The Contamination Problem

Hydraulic, lubricating, and fuel oils accumulate contamination during operation. Pollutants such as varnish, siloxane, salts, particulates, and water gradually build up, causing equipment wear, reduced efficiency, and increased risk of failure.

Traditionally, this issue is managed through regular fluid changes and routine maintenance. However, these processes are expensive, time-consuming, and environmentally damaging due to the disposal of used fluids.

Heavy fuel oils also contain contaminants that can damage fuel systems. During combustion, these impurities are burned off, often producing smoke and particulate emissions, especially during start-up.

Nano Filtration Technology

Delta-Xero’s patented nano filtration technology removes water, siloxane, varnish, particulates, and salts from hydraulic oil, lubricating oil, and fuel oil down to 0.1 micron particle size, well below ISO 4406 (ASTM D975) limits.

Installed in a correctly designed offline filtration system, Delta-Xero filter cartridges continuously reduce fluid pollutants to extremely low levels. This process helps maintain optimal fluid condition and allows fuel oils to burn more cleanly.

Delta-Xero filtration systems are available in single and multi-cartridge configurations, supporting flow rates from less than 1 L/min to 20 L/min, and system capacities ranging from 100 to 120,000 liters.

Delta-Xero works with POLARIS Laboratories® for oil sample analysis, using viscosity and Membrane Patch Colorimetry (MPC) measurements.

Lubricant Analysis

Lubricant analysis measures the particle count within oil to determines the contamination levels. This provides information about the oil’s condition and performance levels and helps to identify exactly what problems that degradation is causing. Viscosity testing looks at the stability and fluidity of the oil and it’s ability to move through the machinery. MPC measurements identify the level of varnish like product and silicate particles which tend to stick to surfaces, blocking valves and causing pump failures.

POLARIS Laboratories® https://polarislabs.com/ conduct our detailed fluid analyses. Providing an independent reference to fluid condition before and after filtration, enabling us to prove filter performance in real world applications.

HORIZON®

HORIZON® is the online portal provided by Polaris. Delta-Xero customers have direct access to their sample analyses via Horizon.

0.1 Micron Filtration

The Delta-Xero cartridge works by drawing fluid from a machine or storage tank and passing it through microscopic filter capillaries to remove particulates, water varnish and salts down to 0.1 micron. Significantly exceeding ISO4406 specification. Contamination and water is held in the cartridge for subsequent safe disposal.

Modular Approach

The DXO cartridges can be used singly or in combination of up to 12, giving a very wide range of capacities from 100 to 12,000 Litres and flow rates from 1Lpm to 20Lpm. They are suitable for marine, industrial, waste to energy, power generation systems and a wide range of other applications.
The cartridges are fully contained and very easy to exchange, making them ideal for use in awkward areas such as wind turbines.

Recyclable

3 Versions

The DXO cartridge is available in a standard version, used for hydraulic fluid and lubricant filtration, and a powertrain version, optimised for fuel filtration. Each version is clearly colour coded for easy identification.

Delta-Xero offers a range of offline filtration systems, using the unique, patented Delta-Xero cartridge they are capable of filtration down to 0.1 micron; removing varnish, particulates, siloxane and water from operating fluids and fuels. The filtration level significantly exceeds ISO4406 standards. Using Delta-Xero filtration systems it is possible to reduce operating fluid contamination by well over 90%. Extending fluid life, reducing maintenance and downtime and the risk of premature equipment failure.

A range of capacities

Delta-Xero filtration units are available with 1 up to 12 individual filter cartridges, offering a wide range of flow rates from <1 to 20L per minute and capacities of 100 to 120,000 L and flow rates of 1Lpm @ISOVG32 @20°C to XXXLpm.

Configuration Options

Filtration systems can be equipped with a range of motors, 110V, 220V or 415V, with pneumatic and hydraulic options for use in specific environments. They are equipped with pressure gauges and sight glasses. Fluid condition monitoring, with tan delta testing and particle counters can be added. All Delta-Xero filtration systems can be Certified to Atex Zone 1 or Atex Zone 2 requirements and the smaller systems may be tray or wall mounted for convenience.

Manufacturing Quality

The filtration systems are UK manufactured from SS316 stainless steel and are available from our facility in Fareham as well as distributors world wide.
